Purpose of the Job:

The Finance Manager will provide accurate and timely financial information, thoughtful business insights and analytics to ensure that business leaders are effective in creating and executing the business strategy and operating plan.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

q  General

o        Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the company's import and export business objectives.

o        Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring performance against budgets and identifying variances.

o        Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing strategic insights to senior management for informed decision-making.

o        Manage cash flow, working capital, and foreign exchange exposure effectively, given the nature of international trade.

o        Perform financial modeling and investment analysis for new projects, market expansion, or import/export ventures.

q  Financial Operations & Reporting:

o        Oversee all financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.

o        Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Ethiopian accounting standards.

o        Supervise the month-end and year-end closing processes.

q  Taxation & Compliance:

o        Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian tax laws (VAT, income tax, withholding tax, etc.), customs regulations, and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to import and export activities.

o        Oversee the preparation and timely submission of all tax returns and statutory filings.

o        Stay updated on changes in fiscal and labor legislation in Ethiopia and their implications for the company.

q  Team Leadership & Development:

o        Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.

o        Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance department

Collaborate effectively with other departments (logistics, sales, procurement, HR & Facility) to streamline operations and enhance profitability. 

Job Qualification

q  Education Qualification: Master’s or BA Degree in Accounting or Finance or in other related disciplines.

q  Work Experience: At least 6(Six) years of demonstrated work experience out of which 2 (two) years is in a managerial/supervisory position for master's degree holders or at least 8(Eight) years of demonstrated work experience out of which 2 (two) years is in managerial/supervisor position for BA holders.

q   Proven experience in an Export & Import company is a plus.

q  Knowledge of additional Local Language is a plus.
